When a Ballpark Is Enough — and When It Isn't

Instant pricing works when the part is simple: a single cavity, one material, a standard finish, and volumes in the thousands. In that shape of program, per-part cost is dominated by cycle time and resin price, both calculable from geometry alone. Anything beyond that — side-actions, inserts, multi-cavity families, plated or painted finishes — moves the economics enough that a ballpark becomes misleading. Those programs get an engineered quote instead, and it still comes back within 24 hours.

What Drives Your Price

• Tooling class. Aluminum soft tooling for bridge runs costs a fraction of hardened P20/420H production steel — the choice is driven by your volume, not by our preference.
• Cavity count. One tool producing four parts is cheaper per part than four single-cavity tools, as long as the parts fit on one mold-flow-balanced layout.
• Cycle time. Wall thickness, cooling design and material set the shot-to-shot clock. A two-second cycle saved across 100k parts is real money returned to the unit price.
• Resin grade. Commodity PP/ABS behaves nothing like medical-grade PEEK on price — and on mold temperature, drying and clamping requirements too.
• Secondary operations. Ultrasonic welding, plating, pad printing and leak testing each add a process step that prices separately.
• Documentation. PPAP-style packages, batch traceability and per-lot certs add engineering hours — priced transparently as line items, never buried.
