THE REAL DECISION
Small-Batch Sourcing, Done Right vs. Done Wrong
Low-volume buyers usually hit one of two paths. The wrong one costs months and doubles the budget; the right one gets real production parts in your hand in weeks. Here is what separates them.
The wrong path: tooling capacity too small for your ramp
A single-cavity or soft-steel mold that works at 5,000 parts will not survive 500,000 — and a press floor that cannot run around the clock turns a proven design into a stockout. Mold wear, unbalanced cavities and production stops mid-program are how supply interruptions start, and they hit exactly when your sell-through is climbing.
The wrong path: small job shops without process control
A small shop can quote the part but cannot hold the process: manual cycles, no automation, no statistical process control and no documented traceability. Part #1 and part #10,000 drift apart, QC records are thin, and when an audit or recall demands full lot traceability there is nothing to hand over.

What Makes Mass Production Different?
Consistency, cost and capacity — the problems most factories face are solved with strict process control, supply-chain optimization and automation.
Scale — monthly production capacity up to 2,000,000+ parts, and 35M+ monthly parts capacity on the injection molding floor.
Consistency — automated presses hold stable process windows so part #1 and part #500,000 are identical.
Unit cost — tooling and setup amortize over millions of parts; automation squeezes real cost out across the whole run.
Supply chain — material programs, inventory buffers and multi-process capability keep production flowing without single-source disruption.
Quality system — IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 certified lines with 100% inspection or 1:4 statistical sampling.
Predictable delivery — mass-production programs at MOLDITQUICK ship in 25–30 days with tracked global logistics.

Cost Structure: What Drops as Volume Rises
The economics that make mass production compelling — every line is verified on real programs.
| Cost Driver | Low Volume | Mass Production |
|---|---|---|
| Tooling amortization | Spread over hundreds of parts | Spread over hundreds of thousands — negligible per part |
| Unit price trend | Volume discounts begin around 200 pcs | Lowest — 15% average cost optimization via DFM and process control |
| Cycle efficiency | Manual attention per part | Automated presses, 20–60 s cycles, robotic take-out |
| Quality cost | 100% inspection on small batches | 1:4 sampling or 100% inspection — rework cost near zero |
| Material cost | Standard stock, smaller buys | Program pricing, bulk resin/alloy contracts |
| Lead time per batch | 7–12 days at MOLDITQUICK | 25–30 days per program, then continuous supply |
Mold Grades: Class 101 to Class 105
Mold class determines tool steel, expected shot life and part quality. Higher class = longer life, tighter tolerances, higher tooling cost. Industry-standard reference (ISO 8062-3 / DME mold-class convention)
| Class | Expected Life | Tool Steel | Typical Use | Tolerance Level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Class 101 | 1,000,000+ shots | Hardened H13 / S136 | Automotive & medical mass production | Tightest — precision molding |
| Class 102 | 500,000 – 1,000,000 shots | Pre-hardened P20 / 1.2311 | High-volume consumer goods | Very good |
| Class 103 | 100,000 – 500,000 shots | P20 / 718H | Mid-volume production parts | Good |
| Class 104 | 50,000 – 100,000 shots | Lower-cost steels | Short-run production, bridge tooling | Standard |
| Class 105 | 500 – 5,000 shots | Aluminum / soft steel | Prototype & validation molds | Standard, validation only |

FAQ
Mass Production — FAQ
What is your monthly capacity?
Up to 2,000,000+ parts per month across molding, die casting and CNC — with 35M+ monthly parts on the injection floor.
What inspection standard do you use?
Our own QC standard as default — size, function and appearance. 1:4 random sampling unless you request 100% full inspection, even for millions of pieces.
What defects are rejected?
No defects allowed on the surface — flash, flow lines, sink marks and short shots are all rejected at inspection.
What is the lead time?
Mass-production programs ship in 25–30 days at MOLDITQUICK, with continuous supply once running.
Which mold class do I need?
Class 101–102 for long automotive/medical runs, Class 103 for mid-volume consumer goods, Class 104–105 for shorter or validation runs.
Who owns the production mold?
You do — tooling you paid for is 100% yours, stored free for the life of the program, with maintenance and modification available on request.
Can you do full inspection on millions of pieces?
Yes — full inspection is done one by one on all finished products at the customer request, even for multi-million-piece batches.
How do engineering changes work in production?
ECNs are assessed immediately; minor tweaks are often free, larger changes get a steel-modification plan and cost estimate fast.
HOW IT WORKS
From Inquiry to Delivery
Incoming Material Verification
Resin lots and alloy batches are verified for grade, lot traceability and moisture content before the line runs.
First Article Inspection
The first parts of every run are dimensionally verified against drawing and compared to approved samples.
In-Process Monitoring
Appearance checks for flash, flow lines, sink marks and short shots run continuously at the press.
Dimensional & Functional Testing
Size, function and appearance are inspected per our QC standard — wall thickness, dimensions, electrical and mechanical function.
Final Inspection & Sampling
1:4 random sampling as standard, or 100% full inspection on request; environmental testing (temperature, humidity, vibration) available.
Packing & Global Delivery
Approved parts are packed per export standards and shipped with inspection records attached.
