Injection Molding Car Parts
Injection molding is how modern vehicles get their interior, under-hood and electrical plastic components — from dash trims to connectors to sensor housings. We supply IATF 16949-certified automotive molding with the traceability, PPAP documentation and dimensional control the industry demands.
Interior Components
Dash trims, door panels, bezels, handles and soft-touch overmolds with class-A surface finishes.
Under-Hood & Engine Bay
Brackets, housings and heat-resistant components in PA, PBT and PPS that survive heat, oil and vibration.
Electrical & Connector Parts
Connector housings, sensor bodies and cable management with tight dimensional control and insert molding.
Exterior Trim & Functional Parts
Spoilers, emblems, mirror housings and structural brackets molded and finished in-house.
PPAP & Full Traceability
PPAP-style documentation, material certs and batch traceability compiled per program.
Car Parts We Produce
One modern vehicle carries hundreds of injection-molded plastic components, each with its own material, tolerance and surface requirements. Our automotive line covers the full spread:
- Interior: dash trims, door panels and handles, bezels, HVAC louvers and soft-touch overmolded grips in ABS, PC/ABS and PP with textured or low-gloss finishes.
- Exterior: spoilers, emblems, mirror housings and grille components with UV-stable materials and paint-ready surfaces.
- Under-hood: brackets, housings and shrouds in heat-stabilized PA6/PA66, PBT and PPS that hold up to engine-bay temperatures.
- Electrical: connector housings, sensor bodies, fuse boxes and cable management with tight dimensional control — many with metal terminals or inserts.
Every program starts with a DFM review that checks class-A surface risks, knit lines, warpage and insert retention before tooling. Molds are designed and built in-house — see the automotive manufacturing page for how the factory is set up for this work.
Materials, Tolerances & Multi-Material Parts
- Interior grades: ABS, PC/ABS, PP, PA6 — with texture, color match and low-gloss options.
- Under-hood grades: PA6/PA66 GF, PBT, PPS, heat-stabilized PC — confirmed against under-hood temperature requirements.
- Elastomers: TPU and TPE overmolds for seals, gaskets and soft-touch interfaces; silicone for high-temperature sealing.
- Tolerances: critical features verified on CMM and vision systems; metal inserts positioned to ±0.02 mm on our vertical presses.
- Multi-material: two-shot and overmolded assemblies molded in-house so mating surfaces and alignment stay controlled.
Material selection is a DFM conversation, not a catalog pick: the same bracket can be PA6-GF30 for cost, PBT for dimensional stability or PPS for continuous heat. Our engineers lay out the options with data before tooling. For a wider view of what we mold across industries, see the automotive industry page.
Quality, PPAP & Traceability
Automotive suppliers are chosen on evidence, not promises. Under IATF 16949 we provide PPAP-style documentation: dimensional reports, material certificates, process parameters and batch traceability compiled per program. First articles are measured against the full drawing before production release, and in-process sampling keeps the run inside the approved window.
For an industry reference point, First Mold publishes an automotive door-handle case holding ±0.1 mm part tolerance with rejection rate capped at 0.8% (firstmold.com) — that is the caliber of data serious buyers request, and the same caliber we provide. Frequently Asked Questions
What car parts can you injection mold?
Interior trims and handles, exterior trim, under-hood brackets and housings, connector housings, sensor bodies and multi-material assemblies.
Which materials do you mold for automotive?
ABS, PC/ABS, PP, PA6/PA66 (GF), PBT, PPS, PC plus TPU/TPE and silicone for sealing and soft-touch applications.
Do you provide PPAP packages?
Yes — PPAP-style documentation with dimensional reports, material certs, process parameters and batch traceability is standard for automotive programs.
Can you handle insert molding for electrical parts?
Yes — metal terminals and inserts are molded in on vertical presses with insert positioning held to ±0.02 mm.
What lead times for automotive parts?
Prototype and low-volume runs in 7–12 days; production programs in 25–30 days after tooling release, with PPAP documentation timed to your launch plan.
